Two years ago, when my mom came out to see Quinn right after he was born, she surprised me
with an amazing gift – a scrapbook of songs that my Grandma Betty used to sing. Since then, we’ve remembered a
few other songs of hers that need to go into the book.
Now, you know I’m not a scrapbooker. I’ll do a little digital scrapbooking, but I don’t
bust out the scissors and glue and stickers and stamps. I’ll go to Michael’s
when I have to, but every trip is daunting endeavor. But for some reason, with
my mom, taking on this project sounded like fun. I’ve been looking forward to
this for months!
So we broke out the scrapbook paper, markers, stickers and
glue… and the wine and chocolate,
of course… and we finished two pages.
Creativity is a messy business, people.
To inspire our creativity, I ordered some decadent chocolate
covered strawberries and had them delivered yesterday as a belated Valentine’s Day gift for my mom
and me. (I had a coupon for Shari’s Berries.
Only a crazy person would let that go to waste!) It was the perfect snack for
some late-night scrapbooking.
This is one of the pages we made. Did your mom or grandma
ever sing this song to you when you were a kid? I know, it’s supposed to go “I
love YOU a bushel and peck…,” but in our family we always changed “you” with a
person’s name. So in our book, we love Quinn a bushel and peck. Q calls it “the
Quinn Song.”
I’ve loved spending this week with my mom, and I wish we
lived closer. Even mommies need their mommies sometimes.

I love you, a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck... I sang that song all the time to Melissa!! Have fun scrapbooking, and with the chocolate and wine!!
